Field Hockey
I really want to join my school's field hockey team but I've never had any experience. Field hockey at our school starts in the fall. Can you give me any advice on how to get in shape for field hockey? I just need some fitness tips so I can be ready when I try out. I know it takes a lot of work to play this sport and I'm willing to do it. Please feel free to reply if you have advice. I can't wait to start in the fall! From what I heard field hockey is the best! Thanks so much!

Hey,

Field Hockey is wicked fun once you get the hang of it. There really is no need to be nervous, I've been playing for two years and at my school we had to run laps and just really exercise a lot. I suggest that you run every day and do some sort of stretches because that helps you with your stick skills. When i first tried out i didnt run or stretch at all before try outs and that wasn't very smart of me. Now i run everyday and do push ups and sit ups to improve my bending skills. Well I wish you the best of luck on your try outs!

at my school, it was running 3.5 miles a day. followed by passing and dribbling drills. really work on hand eye coordination by air dribbling (hitting hte ball on the side of the stick). g/l

hey! i've only played field hockey for one year...but its a lot of running, so just try running every day, the more you can run the better you will play. as for skills, just buy a stick and ball, and go to a summer camp, thats what i did and it helped a lot, then you can practice before try-outs! good luck! its a ton of fun!

Hey, you don't have to be so nervous- All you should do is work out so you won't be out of shape when you try out. As for the game, it's pretty easy. Hope you have fun!
