Field Hockey Is...

Is field hockey really popular in the States or something? Because when I used to live in Vancouver it wasn't very popular and where I live in Alberta it's not very popular either.

We have never played it in school. We've never learned about it. We don't have any field hockey teams or anything like that either. It's never on T.V. and I've never heard of any good field hockey players.

Is it like this where you live or is it actually really popular? I have a question. Is it similar to like hockey but you have this weird looking stick and you play on grass or are they completely opposite? Well, I was just wondering.

yeah i know what u mean i live in northern bc and the only thing i can think of that compares to field hockey is lacross and i know they are totally different!!! oh well i'm playing ice hockey next year so i don't really care about field hockey. maybe i'd like it more if i knew more about it or if it was on tv. it kinda bugs me though from what i've read on teenfx most girls play field hockey and most guys play ice hockey and that's kinda sexist to me. oh well what ever

i'ved played field hockey for a long time....when i was little i played with the boys and girls club every summer....i didn't take it too serously. then in middle school i played in the 8th grade. once i became a freshman i didn't play b/c i didn't think i was ready....i wasn't that sure i wanted ot commit to this team....se my team had won 7 STATE CHAMPION titles, my freshman year my sister was on the team and they happened to win states. my sophomore year (this year) i decided to play and i became the goalie. i know how to play the other positions b/c of my past years playing but we had no goalie for JV so i voulnteered......i became really good i guess b/c we only lost 3 game and we were the top team JV in the league. not only were we the top JV team in the league we were also the top varsite team and we weent on to tournment. but i got picked for the team...even though i didn't get to play (we had an awesome goalie) i stilled d it.....yesterday was the states game... AND WE WON!! we are now the state champs for the 9th time in 16 years. i this sport and i will go on hopefully to play in college and finsih my 2 years at high school playing on the varsity team....i my team!!!!!

fieldhockey is super popular in vancouver!!!!! tons of schools have it as a school team!!! plus theyre teams outside of schoo like merelomas and the hawks that play in the same league too bad you didnt know.....its an awesome sport!!!
