Girls And Wrestling
I joined my high school wrestling team last year for the first time. I have done pretty well considering I only started. Ever since I joined wrestling, many of the other girl (and guys) in my school have started to ignore me. They say that wrestling is not a girls sport and girls should not be aloud to wrestle. Even some of the schools in my school board don't let girls wrestle in the tournaments. Though most do, some don't give the girls the recognition we need to gain confidence. I don't think it's right to say or do that because girls can do everything guys can do. I have told many people about that and they still choose to ignore me. I have even got a bunch of girls from other wrestling teams that I have become friends with and we have called the newspapers about it but they don't think we have a story. I refuse to quit wrestling for my "friends" but it's hard not to think about it. What can I do to help explain to them that I like wrestling and I don't want to quit just because they don't like me doing it? Please, this is important to me. I need to know what to do. -Niamh
