What Should I Do?
I really need some help/suggestions. When I get into high school I was hoping to get into sports. Like baasketball. It's just that my mother played b-ball when she was in high school and so did my sister when she got in high school. So it's up to me to keep the tradition going. Plus both my older cousins that are in high school are in sports. All of my older cousins that were in high school or graduated played sports! And I don't want to be the odd cousin out. But I really do want to play basketball. My 3rd grade teacher keeps asking me if I play because she thinks that since I have long legs I should play. But then I think. ..I don't know what to expect in basketball. I started playing basketball in the 4th grade but quit because the ball always hit my hand wrong and felt like it was jammed at times, but it wasn't. So if you have any comments or suggestions it would be really helpful.

Thanks

Hey guyz! thankx for your replies...a few months ago I pre-enrolled for high school and instead of putting down basketball...I signed up for tennis. Weird huh? I decided to do tennis instead because my big sis was in it and I remember watching her and I always wanted to learn...so I'm gonna play tennis. Hey at least it's a sport.

Thankx

DO what u want to do not what every one wants u to. If u dont want to play then make a new tredition of not playing b-ball. But if u think twice about it then try it out and if u dont want to play u can always stop playing. It is your life and your life is controlled by you .Unless u are letting other people control it. Your life is your sso do what u want direct your self and make your own tradetions

First of all RELAX!!! Bball should be played for fun. NO PRESSURE (unless theres 10secs left on the clock and your down by 2) jk.... no but really if YOU want 2 play then go 4 it. Yes u can get injured but u can get injured doing anything am i wrong. I :) and live bball. i started wen i was in 4th grade and im obseesed i used 2 play 4 a church league which wasn't that great but i was little... then i went 2 camp sarah behn nlast year i played @ another church, and i was in 8th grd. i also tried out 4 the VARSITY team bc in my school they don't hav a jv which really sucks! but this year my coach already like "hinted" that i "might" make the team. I CAN'T WAIT! but u really need 2 practice, work out, and b committed.... BUT if u luv the game and u want 2 play ball then TRy OUT! NO doubt.

I've been playing basketball since the age of 5.. even before that, before I could walk.. (Not techinically.) But my best friend had the same problem when she entered high school. She wanted to try out for the soccer team, but she was too intimidated by the better players. She had been playing soccer since the 5th grade, but she didn't take it seriously. She only played in rec sports. But, she practiced all that summer and had confidence in herself. She tried out, and made the JV team for a freshman. She now plays varsity soccer, which she'll be a jr. Also, don't feel the need to continue on a family tradition, you are yourself. You don't have to be anyone else but you, and though you're family all has played basketball, it's your choice. I hope that you confide in yourself and try basketball out. It's the best sports yet. Good luck.

I :) basketball its like my life. I've seen some many people try to suceed. And they couldn't. But u have it in your blood! You just have to have confidence in your ablites. And not everything will come easy. PRACTICE PAYS OFF! Believe me I'm living proof of that. If the ball is hitting ur fingers wrong ask for help. I'm sure your mom or sister or cousins will help u. You just can't be afraid to ask! And if they won't I will. ! Good Luck Girl!

if the ball keeps jamming your fingers just practice your ball handling skillslike sit in a chair and bounce the all behind keeping your fingers relaxed-i usually jam my fingers when they aren't relaxed and I try and catch a ball.Just keep practicing little things that will help you with ball control and thenmove onto s hotting hoops and by time you hit HS you'll be a superstar but you have to keep up with it.Good luck

I've been playing basketball since I was in the 1st grade and it's been really fun for me to meet new people while also keeping fit. I think that if you want you should play basketball it would be a good oppurtunity for you.
