Starting Tennis
See it's like this, I'm pretty good at all sports when I try them, but I'm never great because my parents never got me into sports when I was younger. I've always been intimidated by getting out there and trying a new sport. When my mom suggested that I try tennis, I was very hesitant, but I figured it might be fun. I admit it was pretty scary at first, starting tennis in a new school where I didn't know a lot of people. But you see, my French teacher ended up being my tennis coach. He made me feel totally at ease with the sport. He not only taught me how to play tennis, but he also made it fun in the meantime. His tennis drills were hilarious, and they helped. One was called "Get the ball damnit". We'd stay up at the net until he hit the ball far off; then he'd tell us to get the ball damnit. Another one was called "Go to Hell". Okay, it sounds kind of intimidating, but it was a lot of fun. We'd be in doubles teams. One person would play the net, and the other would play baseline. He'd feed us the ball and we'd play it in doubles court until someone screwed up. When you screwed up, you'd be in purgatory. Then if you screwed up twice, you'd go to hell, and the winners stay on the court while the losers leave. Also there was sound tennis where you'd have to make a sound when you hit the ball. Those are just a few of his games.
