Football Players and Cheerleaders?
Okay, someone clear this up for me. I don't quite understand it. I'm a cheerleader at one of the top competitive college cheer programs in the country. My squad had won NCA College Nationals, the biggest college nationals sanction in the nation, the past 3 years in a row. Anyway, so obviously I'm very competitive and the cheerleaders at my University aren't just here to jump around on the sidelines at the football games, although we do also have a pretty competitive football team.
So my question is why do football players think that cheerleaders automatically swoon over them just because they're football players?! The other day I was in the lobby of one of the buildings on campus, studying for a test in my next class, and this guy comes up and sits in the chair next to me. He actually used the, "You look really familiar, have I met you before?" line, even though I know for a fact I've never met this guy before. Because trust me, if I had, I would have remembered. He talked like a hick and had pretty bad grammar, not at all that I'm saying all football players are dumb or anything. THIS ONE in particular was pretty dumb. Well I hate when people use lines on me, so normally I just say, "No," and then sit back and enjoy seeing them struggle to figure out what to say next, but I guess I thought I'd be nice for once haha! I said, "Well, I'm a cheerleader. Do you go to the games, because maybe you've seen me there?" He says, "Oh you are?! I'm a football player!" as if I'm automatically supposed to become really attracted to him just because I'm a cheerleader and he's a football player. Then of course he starts bragging about football injuries, like you guys all seem to do. Well, I've had a number of injuries in gymnastics and cheerleading and I was like buddy, you're bragging to the wrong girl about injuries; I've had 3 stress fractures and a slipped disc in my back for the past 2 years and I tore my Achilles tendon completely in half, among other injuries. He seemed stumped for a while and then started talking about football again.
Anyway, this isn't the first situation like this I've come across. Football players always seem to think since I'm a cheerleader, being a football player automatically makes me much more attracted to them, but because of that fact it makes me much LESS attracted to them. In fact it's super annoying. What's the deal? Cheerleaders are not attracted to football players because they are football players... well, most of us aren't. I'm sure there are some girls that do, so I can't speak for everyone. But just because a girl is a cheerleader and the guy is a football player doesn't make them a match made in heaven! Why do football players think that?
