What Is Wrong With America?

I'm English and what you call soccer we call football. Everyone over here is mad for it. People even fight each other just for their team. Why doesn't your country play it very much? Basketball is okay, but baseball. .. come on, what a joke of a sport. If you like physical stuff we've got rugby like your NFL and stuff. All your sports are just ripoffs of ours. Your NFL is like our rugby, baseball is like cricket. The only thing you have is basketball. Yeah basketball is good, but why don't you make more of your own sports rather than just ripping off ours? What is wrong with you?

whoa, calm down man. im american and i soccer(football watever u wanna call it). i think alot of peple arent into it because weve only got really decent players like landon donovan, while other countries have superstars who are some of he best argentina-mes si,riqu elme,te vez/bra zil-kak a,ronal dinho,r obinho/ italy-i nzaghi, buffon/ spain-t orres,f abregas ,raul/e ngland-gerrard, lampard,rooney cole, haha, you get the point right? I think people are comin on tho in soccer especially since were stealin one of your own. becks will probly influence a lot of people to get into it. As for other sports u shud give us a ton o cred for b-ball becuz thats probly the second most popular sport in the world, plus baseball in pretty influential around the globe and he US has come up with anumber of other sports lke lacrosse or NFL (which is similar to rugby but very different.) or a number of extreme sports. besides, soccer definently wasnt invented in England or anywhere near so....

Don't let it get to ya they only make a scene out of it cause they know they can get something out of ya. you should call it wat-evea you wanna call it and it doesn't really matter cause soccer(or football) is basically the same sport just different name. don't worry about it

I don't care about sports whatsoever, but wanted to let you know America isn't the only country that calls it soccer - Japan does too. Though, I think they got it from America in the first place. It's too bad there isn't another name for American football (generally I will use the original term for things)...

oh, you dont like our sports? ok lets just stop America's pastime. im 14, I have control over the names of our sports and how we play, I am in charge of the way we play sports, haha yeah right. You are talking on a teenage website about changing america and asking what is wrong with us? Yeah im sure your gonna find the guy on a website like this to change the name of our sports and stop playing it the way they are played. Different countries have different languages, and different ways. If we change the name of our sports, then you should change the side of the road you drive on. I see where you are coming from when you say we should change the name of soccer to football, but not because everyone else calls it that, but because it has to do with your feet. However, theres already a sport with that name. And personally I think Rugby is a fairly sport, but I think it is not a very smart thing to not wear any protection. So to sum it all up, shutup and don't complain to us teenagersa bout our sports, we don't care.

Ok I read have our ur article and started reading ppls comments and thought man this people are rude but then I read the rest of urs and thought you tell him guys. What kind of question is that? Umm we can play whatever god damn sport we want. 2 things..cricket is for pansies! We just made ur old boring gramma sport into a international hit!! Man cricket is for wimps. Mind u i am only saying this cause u are just so bloody mean. Umm..there are more than 3 sports just so u know. You see every sport you've got we jsut made so much rougher and ner to watch! Now I had all the respect in the world for england until i read this. Mind u I'm from canada and everyone likes us cause we're a bunch of pansies but I've got relatives in america. I thought all these sports were made a long time ago?? Who cares I'm sure u've copied America once or twice. get over yourselves.

um... we didn't make the games up. people LOOOONG, LOOOONG ago did. why are you getting onto us, not that it even matters. why are British people so insecure? you constantly have to rag on other countries to make yourselves feel better. is it because you're jealous? and who cares if we call it soccer? it's still played by the same rules. mexico calls it futbol. soccer is just what we call it. i could ask you why you guys spell color with a u in it, but see how petty and stupid that would be? British people call it football, we call it soccer. you spell it colour, we spell it color. different country dude. maybe you need to realize that. we don't all want to be like England. PS - i could also ask you why you don't know how to pronounce your own countries name. "Eng-er-land"? wtf is that? it's England. here, i've got a new song for you guys to sing at your national team games... I think most of the guys and girls over in the states just enjoy more popular sports like ice hockey, baseball and basketball. Football or soccer as they call it only really took off when the mls started and lets be honest it's not like watching the English premiership. I think it is becoming more popular, but it will take time for the fan base to grow. Who knows the upcoming World Cup may increase the popularity even more, even if England are gonna win it.

dude, there is a bloody lot wrong with americans. I'm an american myself, but the rest of the people here are psyc ic. the majority of the people in the south are retarded hicks (ask me later if u dont know what that is.) I absolutely soccer. ur right, baseball, basketball, NFL, and all the other crap is well... crap. do u include lacrosse and hockey as rip-offs from u? I think we got hockey from canada. lacrosse might be from england. oh well. I'm used to playing soccer with guys, and used to getting shoved around alot. I used to play on asphalt bare-foolted because i never brought the right shoes (im kinda addicted to flip-flops) and against all guys. I was always one of the first ones picked for the teams (it was all only for ) because I can take so much pain and im a relatively agressive player. I play on a team now, and every game is against girls, and all girls on my team. It really sux. we can't even slide-tackle. i dont like hurting girls because they fuss too much. even if u come within a 3ft radius of them they start screaming. plus, the vendettas they tend to carry is a real *#!er. i like to play guys because they're stronger and better, and a real challenge to play against. if we ever had the chance to play eac her (extremely unlikely, but this is an example) you could probably whoop my butt, because the soccer programs here are a bloody piece of crap. i wish i could join an all guy's team. the coaches are a million times better than the 48-year-old coaches my team has. its a pain in the arse when i think i could be so much better, and Im stuck with crap. Im a midfielder, im not very good at scoring, but am really good at getting the ball away from the other team. Oh well, im getting better at it. how r the soccer programs where u r? i might be able to get my parents to send me to skool in england if they're awesome.
