Should I Start Track?
I have always wanted to do track and when I tried out for cheerleading we had to run a mile. I ran the mile in 12 minutes and 45 seconds, but I have been working on it since then and I can now run a mile in 11 minutes with only stopping 3 to 4 times. I think it's pretty good and I'm in fairly good physical shape. I didn't try out this year so I have a year to practice. Do you think I should try out next year? I will be a sophomore and I don't want to be the slowest member on the team. Help!

if you don't want to run you could always do a field event if ur intrested in any of those. but if you r going to join them deffinetly next year because it will just get harded after sophmore year

well my track season has already started but i thought i would still reply.

I think it has to do with your school. my school you dont have to even try out for track, just show up and do your best. you seem very deticated to it so i think you should, at my school the kids are so fun and accept everyone. Its a fun sport and you get to travel and meet alot of new people from your school and other schools. I think you should join!

ummm i guess you could do it for yourself but if you want to be good at it you have to cut your time in half. youd have to be in the mid 5 min/ miles. if you run every day and actually push yourself its possible... runnings all in your head. conditioning for it is probably the easiest part.

hmm...i think if you want to try out, you should go for it. but on my track team at least, (i'm a sophmore) that you have to have a 7 min or lower mile time. mine is 5mins and 48 secs right now, and i'm only JV. you may need to work on your time if you want to have fun in track, because otherwise it may just become tedious and frustrating. good luck though!

I guess it all depends..how much to you want it? Do you grit you teeth when your running and suck it up and keeep going? Do you give it ur all..will you run the extra lap? Man, it was like that for me..I wanted to prove to my dad that i could stick to something so i went out and choose the hardest thing to do..run. But damn it turned out to be something that made me gasp and wanna die but i :) it now. I crave it now. I've made a schedule and everything I do it because i :) it. I've got this mantra that keeps me going its "The harder I go the stronger I get". I say go for it!! Screw the other team mates if u :) it go! Do it! Do it for you. I guess it depends on how much u want it.
