Ballet?
I'm 14 and began figure skating about a year ago. I want to go into competition as soon as I am good enough. Right now I am working on a moving waltz jump and beginning a one-foot spin. I'm thinking of taking ballet lessons to help with my figure skating. Do you think that it should help? The other thing is that the only beginner's ballet classes available are like 11 years and up. I'm tall to top it off so I would probably look really funny. I love ice skating so much I think I might sacrifice. I don't know if I should though. Would it be worth looking funny in a little kid's class?

Ballet is a definite!! I skate, and I started taking ballet and it has helped a lot! And, as an added bonus, ballet is very much like skating, and I learned to :) it just as much as I :) skating. If you want to improve faster in skating, ballet is definiely the way to go!!

I think ballet would help, so if you want to do it... then, by all means, do it! I started figure skating when I was 13 as well and by the time I graduated high school, I was landing double jumps... so soon you'll be really good! :)

if you really want to do it to improve your skating -then do it!
i've heard about dvds teaching people ballet so you could do that instead of going to a class
