Help!
I used to take ballet lessons as a kid, then I stopped. After that, I took a lot of dancing classes, such as hip hop, ballroom, jazz and even folk (haha). I also trained a few months with the cheering squad in my school. So, basically I know a lot of dances.

Right now I am into figure skating. When I started, my coach asked me if I knew any other dance before I started skating lessons, so I showed him a few cheerleader moves and a few ballet moves. But when he asked me to do a split and an extension (the one where you raise one leg high up in the air) I realized I couldn't do them anymore! My coach was a bit disappointed, and I was too. I used to do those moves before, but because I stopped practicing, it seems I don't know how to anymore. I've seen other figure skaters do split jumps and y-spins and I think knowing how to do splits and extensions are vital to master these kinds of moves. How do I learn to do these splits and extensions again? Help!

you should take up lessons again and stop the lessons once you are confident enough that you know them well enough
