Am I too Tall for Gymnastics?
Hi, I was looking at starting gymnastics. I'm 6' tall, but I am still on the light side for my height (125 pounds) I dance quite a bit and have very good balance, strength and stamina. Most tall girls I know quit dance and other such activities because of height and they were much shorter than me! So far I haven't had any problems in dance. But I was wondering if it would become a problem with gymnastics. I was thinking uneven parallel barres could be a problem due to height. Though I don't think floor or balance beam would.

Any comments? How much does height matter? Is it even worth trying?

As long as you can control your body, it doesn't matter how tall you are. It is ussually harder for taller girls to be able to control their limbs. Plus when you start out you are probably going to find things like the bars and vault being too short for you. These things can be adjusted but ussually in recreational gymnastics it is more of a hastle to ajust these things.

In the olympics there were some tall girls but I don't no if they were your height.
