Thinking about Cheering Next Year... Help?
So I'm a sophomore, and I'm thinking about trying out for cheerleading next year. I have zero experience cheering (unless you count cheer camp when I was eight-ish, which I don't lol), but I have a little bit of ballet training and a few years of figure skating.
I also started tumbling classes about five months ago, so I have basic tumbling (cartwheels, one-handed cartwheels, round-offs, handstands) down really well, front and back walkovers pretty well, and I'm working on front and back handsprings. I'm really flexible (I have both side splits, middle splits, crazy good backbends, I can touch my toes past my head... I freak my friends out with my flexibility actually, lol.)
The only problem is that I can be really shy when I'm around new people. It's not an issue when I'm in front of crowds (I'm an actress, so I'm used to performing), but as far as try outs go? I'm a little nervous about that.
Anyway, I guess I want to know if anyone thinks I could cheer? Also, if anyone has any tips about the shyness thing, or suggestions for what I should work on in tumbling (besides for handsprings, of course) I would love to hear them. Thanks!
