Do you people REALLY cheerleading like you say you do or are you just in it to wear the skirt to school? It just seems like none of the people on this page really it or care about it but you just tried out to be popular or something. Hardly anyone can even tumble or takes tumbling classes!!

Yes, i REALLY do cheer!! It's amazing, tons of . And it doesn't bother me that im a guy and people look at me all wierd when they find out im a cheerleader. The instant reaction is "Are you gay?" Hahahaha, no. Not even remotely.
Back on topic, cheerleading is so much ; and i cheer for an allstar team this season, so it's not a popularity issue with me. And i the "Family" you develop with your squad.
And yes i tumble. roundoff, Roundoff bhs, standing bhs, standing tuck, r/o tuck, workin on the fulls.. also workin on multiple tucks

06-05-04 11:24 PM

I HATE cheerleading. Im a cheerleader too
07-10-04 1:20 AM
so quit then.... ??
07-11-04 8:05 PM
honestly i think that cheerleading is a waste of energy and time. I was a cheerleader for one year but i said fu c k it and didn't try out the next year. I have been in gymnastics since i was 3 so the stunts (cartwheels, back handsprings, walkovers) all that stuff was but combining it with screaming some school cheer is just stupid. It doesn't take anymore talent the next person. Anyone can keep their arms straight learn some choreography and cheer =/. So if you are going to say that half these girls didn't take tumbling classes... it doesn't really matter unless you are doing the stunts.. because really the only stunts you EVER have to do are cartwheels and handsprings.. get your facts a little straighter k? *thanks*
07-12-04 8:54 AM
you couldn't make my all-star squad if your life depended on it with only a cartwheel. of course it was for you, you sucked! and you only did the stuff. shut up unless you know what you're talking about
07-13-04 6:05 PM
Maybe you think that you're the only diehard cheerleader out there, hey maybe you are, but unless you personallyknow someone you can't judge how much they the sport
07-13-04 6:21 PM
if someone doesn't even take tumbling classes how can you call them a diehard cheerleader?
Courtney
07-15-04 8:14 PM
I to cheer, I it more than anything. But I have never takena tubling class and cannot tumble. That DOES NOT make me a bad cheerleader or mean I dont cheer!!!!!!!!!!
07-28-04 6:51 PM
katie get a life. i can do way more than cartwheels (backhandsprings, aerials, ect.) so stfu and honestly i couldn't care less if i didn't make your stupid all star squad.

I am so tired of hearing what you think makes a cheerleader (Katie). We know you've been to nationals, we know you can stunt, we know you can tumble like a god, but that doesnt mean every single one of us isnt as good just because we cant tumble. What about some people who cant afford to take tumbling classes? Should you be able to say that they arent cheerleaders because of that? When i think of cheerleading, i dont think of a great tumbler, i think of all the things a cheerleader should do to get your school motivated and bring spirit. I dont think the crowd really cares if you are flipping across the floor. I understand if your talking about competing and what not, but not all schools do that.
09-04-04 11:53 AM
ya they are, but i can do more than that because i'm in gymnastics. it's a little different' when you have to an ariel on the beam versus on the floor.
09-04-04 4:43 PM
I have to say to katie that I am a cheerleader and not that great at stunting. I am just not that type of stunt cheerleading. Cheerleading is about school spirit and just to what you are doing.

I cheering! This is actually my first year of actually cheering. But I've ben in dance and tumbling since I was 6. My sister made me try out this year, and I made it, and I it!!!

11-25-04 11:43 PM
im new to the site, and from what i've read in most of the posts/articles everyone in here seems pretty dedicated... that's completely stupid of you to ask. one person might do something ((like cheerleading)) for a different reason than another person might do it, so why do you even care? i mean what do you think you are, cheerleading god?

Cheerleading is one of the greatest experiences I have ever had! I wouldn't give it up, ever! And...teehee...it's great on College resumes. But I am in it definitely because I it. Why do it for anything else?
01-28-05 5:39 PM
Normally I don't come out and defend cheerleading because I'm sick of all the arguments i.e. "Cheerleading is a sport," (it's a sport to me, and that's all that matters!), but, Katie, you've *#!ed me off.
I've been a cheerleader for seven years and I it. I, however, can't tumble to save my life. I'd to take classes, but since my parents divorced when I was seven, money has been tight, so I've never had the opportunity. During my senior year in high school, we had a squad of 10 girls. Out of the 10 of us, I was part of the best stunt group my school has ever seen (we've been told by teachers that have been there since forever). So just because I can't tumble doesn't mean I'm not a hardcore cheerleader.
When I first started cheering, popularity wasn't an issue. I went to a small, private K-8 school, so we all knew each other. There was no popularity issue. When I got to high school, practically the entire school was one big clique (of course there were some problems...it wouldn't be high school without them!). Popularity has never been on my mind. It sounds like your schools were A LOT different than mine, and that's totally , but don't assume that every school has cheerleaders in it for the popularity contest. Cuz that's a load of bull.
Katie, I'm sure you're an amazing cheerleader. But don't bash other people because they don't have all the skills you do. Some people would kill to be able to do what you're doing. I'd kill to be able to do what you do (tumbling-wise...I'm good at the dance/cheer/stunt part). What I think you should do is stop bashing these people's abilities, and give them credit for trying. So we aren't all Super Cheerleader like you make yourself out to be. Use your abilities to people out. I know you can't them with tumbling through the Internet exactly, but you should be supportive of people doing cheerleading for the right reasons. As a whole cheerleaders have to go through hell to be called an athlete, so basically we gotta stick together. And making yourself out to be the best on these boards can make the people who aren't at your skill level feel bad, like they're bad cheerleaders. You're an adult now (I've read your articles, so I know you're over 18), so I suggest you stop putting people down and start acting like an adult.
01-28-05 8:20 PM
uh, my point wasn't that people don't have the skills... i'm a coach and i'd rather have a girl who busts her a$$ than someone who's great but won't work hard... did you not read this post? my point was why aren't you IN a tumbling class, not why aren't you doing well in it. they have REALLY cheap classes at like the YMCA....
01-28-05 8:27 PM
by the way, i just noticed this in one of the posts by Amy (i think) a while ago...
"...we know you can tumble like a god..."
sure, i have a double and can connect like whips and punch-fronts to a double and stuff like that. i am a really good tumbler. i tumbling. but i definitely can't "tumble like a god". i'm friends with that guy Gary on Pro X and HE can tumble like a god. tye hill tumbles like a god. i'm not really anywhere near them. go watch NCA college or all-star nationals. there's some "freaks of nature," as i call them, out there haha

Of course, I wouldn't do it if I didn't like it. I don't cheer for a school team so it's not about wearing the skirt to school. Some people take the mick out of me, but I don't care what they think. Hardly anyone understands cheerleading or know it's hard work, most of the people I know think it is just girls jumping around waving poms.

Yes, i really do to cheer ! i'm going into my third year of cheerleading and i absolutely it..i'm a rising freshmen and i made Varsity which is really uncommon for freshmen, but yes my heart is in it and i am absolutely dedicated to being a cheerleader..i wouldn't trade cheerleading for anything

I cheerleading!!!! Some do it just to be popular or impress a guy not me I think being a cheerleader is about school sprit and entaining the crowd during timout. I hate going to games a seeing girls complain about they dont want to this or that. I say shut up or quite because we dont need someone who hates it. Cheer may be hard but I truly it and it pays off when you have thant 1stplace tropy in your hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't my favorite sport. I really like being on S Put better because it involves a lot of technique, speed, and strength.
