Ok, so I ride 1x a week right now, on a farm that expects you to show if you ride with My trainer. So, of course I show. I showed once last year and didnt even place because my horse wasnt fancy or big enough. This year, my instuctor is leaving at the end of the summer, but again, Im expected to show. The 2 fancy horses are leased out, so I have to ride another, semi fancy horse. Do you think it's worth showing if you don't have a chance to win? I was also thinking about switching barns, to a more show oriented one. What would you do in my situation? Please I feel really lost. ~Emma~

i go to a show barn to, and have a show horse, but i ride saddleseat, and idk wut u do, but i think its up to u, if u want to just ride and have with it, then switch barns, but if u like showing, then u should stick with it, and eventually you will start winning. u just have to make urself more noticable. it saddleseat, its like that to, if u dont have a big flashy horse, forget about placn, unless its a good judge and ur a good enough rider, and everyone else screws up.

| Emma - why don't you just learn how to ride? A place like that just pressures you to show and lease and all that, you shouldn't have to have a fancy horse in order to place at a show, you just need a horse & rider that communicate together. I do jumping, dressage, english stuff and places like that knock your confidence down and they don't teahc you how to really ride. I know that from experience... | |
