I've rode horses all my life, and them a lot! Now that I'm 14 my mom says i can get a horse...if i pay for all it needs. I want to know all the costs of a horse, money wise, such as the ferrier, the vet, the horse itself, feed for a year, ect. Thanks!

aww thats awsome! well have u researched costs at all yet? because horses are very expensive!! u might not be able to pay for it urself, u might need some from your parents. But heres a list of what u will need and the price ranges to give u a better idea of how much it costs! i hope its ful (prices are Canadian ) *well the horse which can cost any where from $2000 to 30,000+, the prices will differ *tack saddle-$300-800+ bridle-$100-250+ sturrips, bits etc- $100-200+ *vet check ups are usually $40 just for the vet to look at ur horse, but if your horse was to get sick, colic etc it gets veryyyy expensive. (u may need to buy medicines) Your horse will also need worming s s and other s s yearly *ferrier depends on the person, but it needs to be done every 4-6 weeks at about $50-70 a time, + more money for shoeing *the most important thing, boarding (unless u are goin to keep it on ur own property) which can range from $250-1000 *if u plan to take lessons its about $25-30+ a lesson *blankets (winter, fly, ing, indoor) cost about $100-500+ *grooming kit (brushs etc) $50-100 *equipment for u if u need it, like helmet, boots, etc $100-400 (boots can get pricey!)
ummm well thats all i can think of right now but i hope it ed! owning a horse is very expensive so make sure u will be able to properly take care of one b4 u buy it!

I got my horse for 550 at an auction, and she's one of my best. The best way to get feed is in bulk its alot cheaper..and hay is usually about 1.50. If u plan to show her then after awhile she'll almost start paying for herself. Just don't let the subject of money get in the way of ur dreams..It's gonna be really hard at first. If u go to an auction don't get anxious make sure u check everything, if they don't let u check out the horse the there's something wrong with her.The men (no offense to any guy who may read this) there can be very "odd" don't let them tell u know, u have just as much right to check out the horse as any man.I ran into that, the men wouldn't let me near them, finally i shoved my way past them(turns out the horse was,he gave her some bute to calm her pain) I hope everything works out for u
